A lot of people ask me “what´s the magic secret to getting high paying clients and not be seen as a commodity?
The answer is “there is no magic!!”
Now I know that this is not what a lot of people want to hear. Most people want the next BIG thing and the silver bullet that will cure all of their ills – especially when it comes to making more money or getting more clients.
But the truth is that if you want all these things you have to do what everybody else isn´t prepared to do – and that´s become more valuable by not trying to please everybody.
So what does that all mean? Let me boil it down for you.
More value in the eyes of your market looks like someone who specialises in solving a particular problem and then markets that to a tightly defined target audience.
So for example I don´t say I do marketing for small business owners. Why not? Because every Tom, Dick and Harry says that. And let me tell you they are not doing well with that line.
Instead I help my clients attract tons of clients without selling and supply this using a marketing system (The Magneto Effect) specifically designed for consultants, professionals i.e. high priced service businesses.
I don´t do BNI meetings and the like but if I did I know that I would stand out like a beacon compared with the other 3 marketing consultants all trying to push their wares.
Let me leave you with this thought… if you really want to be seen as different don´t do what the rest do. Stop aiming at everyone offering everything. Instead think about what you do best or enjoy doing most and combine that with some thoughts on how it eases someone´s pain. If the pain or risk of your potential client is high you´re onto something!
